What Customers Say About Humminbird 525 Fish Finder:
|
|
WE ARE VERY PLEASED. IT WON'T HOOK THEM. SEEMS TO BE AN NICE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT AND IT WAS THE BEST PRICE WE COULD FIND ANYWHERE. IT CAN FIND THE FISH, BUT.
The depth finder tells me what the depth is and where my bait has been. Since I am back trolling, it is too late to see the fish anyway. I have used this product previously and find it does exactly what I need it to do. I need to see the depth of the water.
Sometimes it gets stuck on 3 feet while I am driving and sometimes while I am drifting. Ive been using my 525 for 3 years in the ocean on a 15 ft Boston Whaler in NJ. They sent a list of 20 things that might cause this but no real answer. There is no pattern and it has done this for 3 years so I am looking at Garmins for next summer. Also I contacted Humminbird via email and they were no help. I have had the same internal fogging problem on the screen - also the unit works about 50% of the time. I have to turn it off and on all the time then it says 3 feet in the middle of the ocean and usually only powering off and on helps.
Then I learned from a few fishing forums that several other people had this problem. The depth reading on this fish finder bounced all over the place. I sent this back and bought a Lowrance X96, problem solved. I'm not sure if it's specific to the M#525 or the entire 500 series but no one is complaining about the other Humminbird models. It would jump from 3' to 15' constantly in 10' of water. I would have thought it a fluke but I later learned that two other people I work with had the same problem.
My last Garmin 100 (discontinued) was very good. I am not happy with this fish finder. Once installed the Fish Finder had a humidity spot in the screen. after 7-8 hours disappeared, but I am nervous that happens again.Other problem, maybe by my fault, it is not possible to convert to metrics, (unbelievable at this time) "quick-disconnect mounting system" jajaja.
